Takaisin Great looppiin - Back to the Great Loop
Siperialainen linja-auton lammitin asennettuna. Onneksi ymmarsin hankkia Planar lammittimen. Yhtena yona Warsaw, KY:ssa oli jo muutama aste pakkasta mutta tama hieman ylisuuri lammitin piti laivan kodikkaana. Kulutus on hammastyttavan pieni; 0.12 l/h ja 10W minimi teholla, mika hyvin riittaa pitamaan makuutilan lampimana.
Siberian bus heater is installed. Luckily I understood to acquire a Planar heater. One night in Warsaw, KY there was already a few degrees under 32; but this little bit oversized heater kept the ship warm. The diesel consumption is astonishingly small. Only 0.12 liters per hour and 10W when it is at the minimum, which keeps my bedroom warm.

Lankomies Mike asentaa lammityslaitteen putkia. Ilman hanen apuaan olisi laiva ollut kylma silla aika olisi loppunut kesken. Han myos suunnitteli, valmisti ja asensi hyllyt vuoteiden alle jatettyyn tyhjaan tilaan. Nyt laivaan mahtuu provianttia valtavasti enemman. Kiitos Mike.
Brother-in-law Mike is installing the pipes of the heater. Without his help the trip would have been cold because I was running out of time. He also planned, made, and installed on the empty area under the beds. Now the ship can have much, much smaller provisions. Thank you, Mike.
Time&Tide ja My Therapy kayttivat naita poijuja lepuuttajina suluissa ja mina hankin ne myos. Matkalla alas Ohio jokea totesin kuinka erinomaisen hyvin ne toimivat.
Time&Tide and My Therapy used these balls as fenders when going through the locks and that's why I also bought them. When going down the Ohio River I noticed how wonderfully they work.
Luulin, etta joki olisi kohtuullisen tasainen kuljettava mutta Ohio joki opetti. Lyhyet, teravat kolme jalkaa korkeat aallot tyrskivat vetta jopa flybridgelle.
I thought that the rivers are pretty easy to travel but might Ohio River taught me. Short and sharp, three feet waves threw water over the flybridge.
Cumberland joella oli vastaanottokomitea. Kaksi vaakunalintua tutkaili ohi kiitavaa Sixteen Tons laivaa.
There was in the Cumberland River a welcoming committee. Two bald eagles were studying "high speed" Sixteen Tons.
Berkley Lock on komea. Odotin sulkuun paasya lahemmaksi nelja tuntia ja jouduin sitten ajamaan satamaan pilkko pimeassa. Edellani kulkenut huvialus onneksi varoitti radiolla ajaneensa hiekkasarkalle pimeassa ja mina onnistuin kiertamaan poijun oikealta puolelta (vasemmalta tassa tapauksessa). Laiturissani naapuri vene tiesi minun tulevan ja ohjasi minut taskulampulla oikeaan slippiin. Epamiellytava loppumatka. Huomiseksi lupaavat lumisadetta ja kovaa tuulta. Taidan pysya satamassa.
Berkley Lock is bold. I waited almost four hours to enter and then I had to enter the harbor in dark of night. The pleasure craft ahead of me luckily warned my VHF radio that they grounded on the sand and I managed to turn around the buoy the right side (which was left side in this case). In the marina the neighbor boat knew that I was supposed to come and guided me with a flashlight to the right slip. It was an unpleasant end of the leg. Tomorrow they promise snow and very heavy wind. I think I will stay in the harbor.
